Cellular Rejuvenation Therapy

Extracellular Matrix

The scaffolding cells use to organize, communicate, and repair. Not a drug. Not a cell. The structural and chemical environment that makes repair possible in the first place.

These therapies are not FDA-approved to treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

What ECM actually is

Every cell in your body lives inside a structural and chemical environment called the extracellular matrix. That matrix is not a passive filler. It is the medium cells signal through, the surface they migrate along, and the framework that organizes how repair happens after injury. Healthy tissue is the matrix doing its job. Failed repair, in many neurological and musculoskeletal conditions, is the matrix giving up on the job.

The ECM allograft used in our program is a full-spectrum perinatal tissue matrix. That phrase matters. Full-spectrum means we are delivering the complete native composition (collagens of all relevant types, growth factors at native concentrations, hyaluronan, fibronectin, cytokines) rather than an isolated single component. The point is to recreate the environment a healthy cell would expect to encounter, so that whatever repair signaling can happen, happens.

What is in the matrix

Collagens (Types I, III, IV, V, VI, VII)

Structural proteins that form the load-bearing framework of every tissue in the body. Each collagen type has a specific role; the ECM allograft delivers the full spectrum found in healthy perinatal tissue, not a single-type concentrate.

Growth Factors

Signaling proteins (FGF, EGF, VEGF, IGF, TGF-β, PDGF and others) that direct cellular activity during repair. The matrix carries these factors at the concentrations they occur in native tissue.

Hyaluronan

A large polysaccharide that holds water in the matrix and creates the gel-like environment cells need for migration, signaling, and tissue maintenance.

Fibronectin

An adhesion protein that lets cells attach to and move along the matrix. Wound healing and tissue remodeling both depend on fibronectin signaling.

Cytokines

Inflammatory and anti-inflammatory signaling molecules that regulate the immune environment during repair. ECM delivers these in their native ratios rather than as isolated agents.

Where ECM fits in a neurological case

Most clinics offering ECM are using it orthopedically, in joints and soft tissue. Our use case is different. We work with ECM where the clinical question is repair of a tissue environment that the brain or peripheral nervous system depends on: post-concussive syndromes with cervical and myofascial involvement, peripheral neuropathies, certain chronic pain syndromes with documented tissue degradation, and post-stroke recovery cases where structural support of motor pathways is part of the picture.

Whether ECM, neural exosomes, both, or neither is right for a given patient is a decision that follows the Diagnostic Process. The biologic is selected for what we find, not for what the consultation room sells.

Sourcing and provenance

ECM is sourced from a domestic FDA-registered HCT/P establishment. Donor mothers are screened on lifestyle, medical history, and three generations of family genetic history. Tissue is collected within hours of a full-term, healthy Cesarean birth and returned directly to a CLIA-certified processing laboratory. Quarantine is 14 days while the panel of bacterial, viral, fungal, mycoplasmal, and protozoal screens runs.

The processing method preserves the native structural properties of the tissue. No cell expansion. No enzymatic digestion. No additives that would push the product out of HCT/P status under 21 CFR Part 1271.

Frequently asked

What is extracellular matrix?

Extracellular matrix is the structural and signaling environment that surrounds every cell in your body. It is the scaffolding cells attach to, the medium they communicate through, and the substrate that organizes tissue repair. When we talk about ECM as a biologic product, we are talking about a perinatal-tissue-derived matrix that delivers that environment as an allograft.

How does ECM differ from PRP?

Platelet-rich plasma is concentrated from the patient’s own blood and is rich in platelets and growth factors. ECM is a full-spectrum tissue matrix that adds the structural proteins (collagens, fibronectin, hyaluronan) and the cytokine signaling that PRP does not contain. A single ECM treatment typically delivers what would require multiple PRP sessions to approximate, and even then the matrix component is not replicable with PRP alone.

Where does the ECM come from?

From full-term, healthy Cesarean births in the United States, with donor screening that covers three generations of family medical history. Processing is done in a CLIA-certified, FDA-registered HCT/P establishment under 21 CFR Part 1271. Quarantine is 14 days. Chain of custody is documented end-to-end.

What does it cost?

Per-vial list pricing is published on the Cellular Rejuvenation Therapy hub page. A 1 mL vial is $5,500 list; a 2 mL vial is $10,250 list. Friends-and-family pricing is available for established patients; final protocol pricing is determined by your physician after the Diagnostic Process.

Is it FDA-approved?

ECM and other cell and tissue products of this class do not go through FDA-approval like pharmaceutical products do. Instead, they are highly regulated by the FDA under 21 CFR Part 1271 as Human Cell and Tissue Products (HCT/Ps), intended for homologous use under the direction of a licensed provider. The FDA does not review or approve these products for the diagnosis, treatment, cure, or prevention of any disease; instead, they oversee the manufacturing process to ensure that the cellular products are safe and free of contaminants so that they are safe to be administered to patients in support of their natural healing processes.
